The OWLAB Stabilizer V3 is an evolution in stabilizer design, engineered for builders who refuse to compromise on the final details of their board. It addresses the most common sources of stabilizer noise with precision engineering and a material rarely seen in the keyboard space: Liquidmetal.
The Owlstab V3 is a screw-in stabilizer that combines a proven material with a completely revised manufacturing process. The full POM construction for both the stem and housing provides a naturally smooth travel without the scratchiness found in other materials. This is just the first step. All of the components use a new mold, engineered specifically to reduce variance and tighten tolerances from one stabilizer to the next.
Subtle but important improvements have been made across the design. The wire clip-in mechanism has been reworked for easier application, while the wire entry hole has been reduced in size to decrease unwanted movement. When paired with an outer housing that minimizes contact with the stem, the result is a significant reduction in both wire and stem wobble right out of the box.
At the heart of the V3 revision are the wires themselves. Made from Liquidmetal, a shape-memory alloy, these wires are built to resist the permanent bends that cause ticking and unevenness. If a wire gets slightly warped during shipping or installation, it has the unique property of returning to its original, perfectly straight form. Yes. While the POM material provides excellent smoothness out of the box, applying lubricant to the housings, stems, and wires is still the best practice for achieving a near-silent and perfectly stable keystroke.
Owlstabs V3 are designed for standard 1.6mm thick PCBs. If you are building with a 1.2mm PCB, you must use the included Teflon dampening pads between the stabilizer and the PCB.
The only difference is the length of the spacebar wire. 6.25U is the most common spacebar size for standard layouts. 7U is often used in specific custom layouts like WKL (winkeyless) or Alice-style boards. Check your keyboard's specifications to confirm which size you need.
