Tinkering and modding are at the heart of the keyboard hobby, but it shouldn't require a full toolkit. Instead of traditional screws, the Mineral 01 uses a magnetic ball catch system to secure its top case. Pull the top case off. Push it back on to lock it. It’s a five-second, tool-free process that gives you immediate access to switches, stabilizers, and foam. For builders who prefer a more rigid lock-up, the load force of the ball catches can be adjusted by tightening the built-in screws. It gives you the freedom to experiment on your terms.

The Mineral 01’s typing feel is matched by its refined acoustics. The design starts with a non-flex cut PCB, which creates a fuller, more consistent sound profile across the board. To eliminate any internal hollowness or high-frequency noise, the keyboard comes pre-installed with high-density PORON plate foam. How do I connect the keyboard to VIA?

To use VIA, you must be in wired mode. Set the DIP switch under the Caps Lock key to the middle position, plug in the USB-C cable, and open the VIA web application. You will need to load the V3 JSON file for the Mineral 01, which can be found on Akko's website.

What is the difference between the Barebones Kit and the Fully Assembled version?

The Barebones Kit includes the complete case, PCB, plate, foam, and stabilizers. You will need to provide your own switches and keycaps to complete the build. The Fully Assembled version is a complete keyboard that includes switches and keycaps, ready to use immediately.

Does it support screw-in stabilizers?

Yes. While the keyboard comes with plate-mounted stabilizers pre-installed for convenience, a set of PCB-mount screw-in stabilizers is also included in the box for builders who prefer them.
