Evoworks EVO80: Pre-Built TKL Wireless Mechanical Keyboard

Evoworks EVO80 TKL mechanical keyboard in Baby Pink on a desk, seen from above

The Evoworks EVO80 is a pre-built 80% mechanical keyboard with a CNC-machined aluminium case, a butterfly leaf spring mount, tri-mode wireless and an 8000 mAh battery, offered in eight finishes and two tuned switch and plate pairings. It arrives assembled, lubed and ready to type.

80% utility, symmetric by design

The tenkeyless layout keeps everything you reach for at work and in games: the full function row, arrow keys and the navigation cluster, with only the number pad left out. The EVO80 also keeps the F13 key above the arrows, so the top row runs the full width of the case and the whole board sits symmetrically on the desk.

At 357 x 136.4 mm with an 18 mm front height, it is low enough to type on comfortably without a wrist rest, and at 1870 g it will not move once it is down.

Stable feel, tuned sound

Inside, the plate sits on a butterfly leaf spring mount, so each keystroke has a little give at the bottom rather than landing on hard aluminium. The switch structure is tuned to the plate material it ships with, which is how the EVO80 manages a clear sound and a controlled bottom-out straight out of the box, so you do not need to shop for foam or open the case.

The PCB is hot-swappable, so if you later want to try a different switch you can pull the originals and push the new ones in without soldering.

Two tuned typing experiences

The EVO80 comes in two switch and plate pairings, each tuned as a set, so the choice comes down to the sound you prefer.

Azure Linear Switches by HMX: force curve and specifications, 40 g operation, 45 g bottom-out, 3.5 mm travel

Azure Linear Switches + FR4 plate: crisp, refreshing and clacky. A lively sound with clear feedback.

Oat Linear Switches by Keygeek: force curve and specifications, 36 g operation, 45 g bottom-out, 3.6 mm travel

Oat Linear Switches + PP plate: rounded, creamy and marbly. A deeper, thockier sound with a softer texture.

Azure Linear + FR4 (Clack)

Made by HMX. 40 g to actuate, 45 g at the bottom, 2.0 mm pre-travel and 3.5 mm total on a 22 mm spring. LY2 stem, PA12 top housing, P3 bottom housing. The stiffer FR4 plate keeps the sound bright and the bottom-out firm.

Oat Linear + PP (Thock)

Made by Keygeek. 36 g to actuate, 45 g at the bottom, 2.0 mm pre-travel and 3.6 mm total on a 22 mm spring. L4 stem, PA66 top housing, PA6 bottom housing. The softer PP plate rounds the sound off and adds a little flex.

Tri-mode, 8000 mAh, per-key RGB

Connect over USB-C, 2.4 GHz with the included receiver, or Bluetooth, and move between a desktop, a laptop and a tablet without re-pairing. Wired and 2.4 GHz run at 1000 Hz; Bluetooth at 125 Hz. It works with Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android.

An 8000 mAh battery sits in the compartment on the underside. With the default lighting on, Evoworks rates it at around 30 hours; with the lights off, up to around 400 hours between charges. Per-key RGB shines up through the dye-sub PBT keycaps when you want it and stays out of the way when you do not.

Q&A & Specifications

Questions & Answers

Does the EVO80 need any assembly?

No. It ships fully built with switches and keycaps fitted and the acoustic tuning done. Plug in or pair and start typing.

Azure or Oat, which should I pick?

If you like a brighter, clackier keyboard, go Azure with the FR4 plate. If you prefer a deeper, softer thock, go Oat with the PP plate. Both are light linears at 45 g bottom-out, so the difference is sound and feel rather than effort.

How long does the battery last?

The 8000 mAh battery is rated at around 30 hours with the default RGB on and up to around 400 hours with the lights off.

Can I change the switches or keycaps?

Yes. The PCB is hot-swap, so switches pull out without soldering, and the standard MX-style stems take most aftermarket keycap sets.

What is the F13 key for?

It is a spare, fully remappable key above the arrow cluster. It is handy for mute, a screenshot shortcut or a layer toggle.

Customer photo review of Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

My keyboard arrived in perfect condition after 2 weeks of waiting and I couldn't be any happier with it. There was an issue initially with the provided status tracker not working but after I emailed support it got fixed immediately thanks to Jake.

Customer photo review of Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

I bought this keyboard through OZO as part of a group buy, so I got it at an amazing price. Due to being a group buy it took a little longer to get the product, longer than I first anticipated to be honest. But Jake kept me updated throughout the whole process and the updates were very much appreciated. As soon as I felt the box I could not believe the weight of it, I knew this was going to be a quality product. It took a little while to switch over all the UK keys, but as soon as I got it setup and started typing I fell in love with it. The sound is nice, although a little getting used to, it just feels so good to type on, I feel like I'm faster as well. Highly recommended, both the keyboard and OZO.

Absolutely phenomenal keyboard and a joy to type on. Very high build quality. Slight issue when ordering which was resolved very quickly.

Evoworks - Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

How should I begin? The classical "I love this keyboard because it's awesome" doesn't cut it, so please let me expand. I'm an aspiring writer. I type. A lot. Therefore, with my birthday coming some day soon(TM) I decided to be good to myself and buy a proper instrument for my purported trade. There are no words to accurately describe how happy this keyboard (Evoworks Evo80) makes me feel. The keys work as intended, they're thocky and soothing, my typos have decreased for some reason, and now I also have additional real estate for my cat to lay around while I'm writing. The keyboard does have one detail I don't like, though, and that is the south-facing RGB. The light flows around the keycaps and I, at middle age and fond of working in a low-light environment, see them fuzzy and out of focus. Not a deal breaker but annoying enough to be noticed. As a potential solution, I have bought side-printed keycaps (still waiting for them to be delivered). I hope this works out for my eyes. Despite this tiny detail, I love my new keyboard because it's awesome.

Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

Honestly it was amazing, loved it. After leaving the hobby in 22 the products have changed massively in quality. I will 100% be returning to buy more. My only suggestion are: maybe in check out just let the customer know where it was shipping from, the estimated shipping date is appreciated however I was thinking that the product was in the UK and not on HK. Now the shipping time from HK was incredibly fast and the tracking was brilliant and since I was used to waiting over a year in certain group buys or shipping kits from china by ship which would take 4 to 5 months so the 2 week delivery is more than reasonable. Thank you very much.

Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

The keyboard is good looking, pleasingly heavy and easy to take apart. It also has the nicest sounding keys I think I've ever heard! Unfortunately it has been flashing a red escape key at me, which I think means there is a problem with the 2.4Gb signal as the battery indicator said the battery was still 80% full. This error isn't mentioned in the manual so I had to do a Google search instead. I've also had to take it apart a couple of times to check the connections because it refused to charge when I plugged it in. Hopefully its performance will improve as it is an otherwise really lovely keyboard.

Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

Great keyboard, great feeling, great looks, VIA is good, QMK lacks support, had to program the layout (https://github.com/safteinzz/qmk_firmware)

Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

Looks great, works great (mostly). VIA support is iffy - requires a JSON file to configure. Comes with a carrying case, keycap/switch puller, three extra switches, a braided USB-A/USB-C and a booklet that contains most info for initial setup/keys with extra functions. Bought it with the idea to change switches after receiving it because I am not a big fan of linears. Overall it's a solid keyboard and I recommend it.

Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

Delivery was delayed due to the war in the middle East but that was understandable. Very good customer service, they were transparent about the delays and even gave me some store credit for my troubles. The keyboard sounds amazing and is very smooth to type on. It is a dream. Absolutely excellent addition to my set up. The vast variety of RGB light settings and keyboard shortcuts. Very well built. Absolutely worth the price

Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

Thanks so much for the fast delivery! And sorting out my mistake with options before the keyboard even got posted out. Will definitely be coming back if I ever want to continue playing around with them

Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

I love the tactile feel of this keyboard. Whilst there was a delay in getting the parts, the team kept me up to date with the status, and advised on alternative colour options that would be available sooner. The bluetooth connection is consistent with the computer. The weight of the keyboard also helps to prevent slipping, but the free keyboard mat also helps with this :)

Evoworks -  Evo80 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard

Love the keyboard, works amazing and has a good battery life in wireless mode. My order was delayed but I was kept in the loop the entire time which was nice customer service
